Jim Johnson, Eagles former D-Coordinator, Succumbs to Cancer

Jim Johnson, who coordinated the Eagles defense from 1999-2009, has passed away today. Johnson, who has been battling cancer for some time now, had just recently been replaced as the defensive coordinator by Sean McDermott. Johnson leaves behind quite a legacy. Here are some of his career highlights:

– Former Defensive Coordinator of Notre Dame
– Former 2 year NFL player
– Was a husband, father, and grandfather
– Coached for the Cardinals, Bills, and Colts
– In 10 years as the Eagles defensive coordinator, Johnson’s defense allowed under 17 points in over half his games.
– In 10 years with the Eagles, 26 of his players played in Pro Bowls
– He currently has 5 assistants in either a defensive coordinator or head coach capacities: Sean McDermott, Leslie Frazier, Steve Spagnolo, Jim Harbaugh, and Ron Rivera.

Johnson will surely be missed. Jim Johnson: 1941-2009.
