In a surprise move today, the Eagles have cut former third round pick Tony Hunt. Hunt, who made the team out of training camp as a full back and was recently switched back to half back, was mired in a numbers game, and was very unproductive for the Eagles in his brief tenure. More updates to follow if any roster moves are made as a result.

UPDATE:  The following is from NFL.COM…

The Eagles signed linebacker Tracy White. To make room for White on the 53-man roster, the team released RB Tony Hunt.

A six-year veteran, White (6-0, 238 pounds) spent the last two-plus seasons with the Green Bay Packers before being released on 10/7/08. Originally signed by Seattle as an undrafted rookie in 2003 out of Howard, White played in 20 games (two starts) with the Seahawks, recording 26 tackles and one sack. He spent the 2005 season as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, before signing with the Packers in 2006.

A strong special teams performer, White has racked up 68 career special teams tackles in 69 games, including two in the 2007 postseason, as well as a forced fumble on 1/20/08 vs. NYG. He also recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone for a touchdown on 9/9/07 against the Eagles.

A 27-year-old native of Charleston, SC, White started 44 games at Howard, leading the team in tackles all four years and becoming the school’s all-time leader with 500 career tackles, adding 22 sacks and six interceptions.

A “BIRD” In Hand…

Very funny that on the same day the Birds were unwilling to give up a third rounder for a Pro-Bowl tight end that could greatly improve the team that they’d point out a failed draft selection in the very same round.

Eagles 3rd round picks other then Westbrook really havent helped out to much. I guess Gocong has been OK, but other then him, Moats, McCoy, Bryan Smith. It was only a matter of time for yet another PSU RB bust to be cut.
